Since NYC began to be obey the nationwide stay at home order on March 22,2020 life as we know here has been different. It is currently spring season and the familiar sounds of children playing and the hustle and bustle of the city have gone mute. It almost seems as if life as we know it has stopped and for many, it has.
The Queens Village Long Island Railroad which was once crowded with passengers during the workweek is now completely empty. Since the stay at home order many business have allowed their employees to work from home removing the need to take the LIRR which could further spread the disease. At the once busy intersection of Springfield and Jamaica ave. You will find few if any people outside. What was once a busy intersection is now a ghost town. Jamaica ave storefronts are seeing a dramatic decrease in foot traffic since the start of the stay at home order. foot traffic from Jamaica ave. To Hempstead have made the local area feel like a ghost town. The local auto shops and car washes still function as usual but traffic is visibly less than usual within the area. This has been my view of the streets since the stay at home order has been enacted. The streets are almost always empty and commerce has stopped all together.
